“Educators have to facilitate vulnerability in such a way that is empowering and supportive. Our job is not to preach, it is to inspire and encourage others to BE the critical thinkers they are.”

“The times are constantly changing and evolving. Our American education system was built on foundations of severe discipline, conformity and white supremacy. This is well documented and taught at nearly every public university in the United States. If we can accept these harsh facts, we can then begin to allow ourselves to imagine the ways in which education can look differently. What does equitable and inclusive teaching look like in a multicultural classroom today? Does it even have to be a classroom?

My philosophy as an educator is to empower students to explore their own identities and experiences, to listen with an open mind to other perspectives and think critically about the world around them. From this place of vulnerability, we can collectively discover the complexities of life through topics in Humanities, Politics, Literary Arts and more. We can take a look at the past to understand the present and empower one another to imagine and work toward a better future.”
